Pawan with grandchildren Kipling and Rio on a mountain hike
Grandson Selkirk Pedersen accepting Silver Medal in the 2002 Kindercup Downhill Ski Race. Dollar Mountain, Sun Valley, Idaho. March 2, 2002.
Every year the Sun Valley Company has a contest for the most vertical feet skied on massive 3,300-foot Bald Mountain. Participating skiers wear an instrument registering the number of runs and total vertical distance, and officials log the readings at the start and end of each day. Pawan, seen here with his trophy, won the 1999-2000 Season with 3056 runs over 124 days for the not-insignificant total of 4,883,000 vertical feet!
